On the way to the famous Sossusvlei and Dead Vlei (“Dead Valley”), Dead Valley Lodge is quietly located in the desert between the Sesriem campsite and Elim Dune, near the main entrance gate of Namib-Naukluft National Park. Guests can enjoy an oasis with wide views of the Namib Desert, which has rocky mountains and high red sand dunes.
The lodge’s restaurant serves tasty Namibian food. After a busy day, guests can relax in the bar with a cool drink or enjoy the fresh water in the pool while looking at Elim Dune.
Inspired by Sossusvlei, Dead Valley Lodge is one of the closest places to stay near the Sossusvlei pan and has its own entrance inside Namib-Naukluft National Park.
There are 20 private, luxury tented chalets at Dead Valley Lodge. Each chalet has a small kitchen, private bathroom, private patio, electric sockets, a double bed, and air conditioning.
The lodge’s simple but elegant design makes you feel close to the desert while keeping you comfortable. Enjoy a drink and watch the sun go down over the Namib dunes from the bar or the open lounge area.
You will be surrounded by the desert, and animals may pass by the terrace and tents.
Swimming Pool
After climbing the Sossusvlei dunes, the cool-water pool is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the view of Elim Dune. Pool towels and sun chairs are provided for guests.
The pool is near the dining area and looks very inviting, even for a night swim. The pool is open all year, but desert nights in winter may be too cold for swimming.
Restaurant
The restaurant and skilled chefs serve three meals a day, offering a full taste of traditional Namibian food. The open dining area with soft leather chairs is a great place to enjoy meals. Wi-Fi is available in the shared areas.
The menu includes many kinds of meat, and the chefs prepare a wide range of dishes, even in the desert. The team is always happy to cook and serve Namibian meals, which are full of local flavor.
Climate-Controlled Chalets
The tented chalets are built with care for the desert environment and give a feel of traditional desert life, while the air conditioning provides comfort for resting.
Inside, the soft carpets and comfortable sofas help create a relaxing and cozy stay.
Private Deck
From your own chalet’s deck, enjoy peaceful views of the desert around Dead Valley Lodge. Watching animals pass by adds to the feeling of being close to nature.
Dead Valley Lodge is a very good choice for couples. However, please note that children under six are not allowed. Non-smoking rooms come with a safety box and a fan.
En-Suite Bathroom
Your stay is made more comfortable by a private bathroom with a flush toilet, two washbasins, and a shower with hot and cold water.
Each chalet includes towels and a hair dryer. Laundry and ironing services are available at an extra cost upon request.
