Located in a 25,000-hectare private nature reserve that stretches from the Namib Desert to the Naukluft Mountains, Namib Naukluft Lodge is a quiet and special place that gives visitors a great desert escape.
Namib Naukluft Lodge is a perfect place for nature lovers. Visitors may see Oryx antelope, Kudu, Springbok, Steinbok, Klipspringer, Mountain Zebra, Ostrich, and Baboon, as these animals have roamed freely here since 1993.
At night, Aardwolves and bat-eared foxes are often seen. Predators such as African wildcats, leopards, and cheetahs have sometimes been spotted in the open plains, along with spotted or brown hyenas. A bird hide is also nearby and can be reached on foot from the lodge.
Guests can relax in the cozy lounge in the main lodge building, which is decorated with artworks made by local artists. After a busy day, guests can warm up by the fireplace in winter or cool down in the clean pool during summer.
There are sixteen clean and comfortable rooms available. Each room has its own bathroom and a fan to help with the desert heat. Every room also has a large private patio with wide views of the surroundings.
Each room comes with a private balcony, a fridge, and Daikin air conditioning. The main building includes local decorations, original paintings, prints, and hand-woven carpets made by local artists.
Delicious traditional meals are served on the veranda or cooked by the chef over an open fire in the lapa, adding to the special feeling of a desert evening. In winter, the fireplace and bar offer a warm place to relax after an exciting day.
The best time for a quiet walk is in the early morning, when the first sunlight touches the desert and it feels like everything is waking up. Clearly marked walking paths lead to the bird hide, around the mountain, and up the granite slope. It’s the perfect time for those who enjoy photography.
During the hotter part of the day, the clean pool is the best place to relax after a trip. It offers a cool swim and a spot to enjoy the sunshine.
