The first main stop is Pelican Point. This narrow peninsula is home to a large Cape fur seal colony and a well known lighthouse. Guests can walk along the beach, watch seals resting and moving around, and take photos close to the water. Dolphins are sometimes seen near the shore, and during certain seasons whales or mola mola sunfish may appear offshore.
After Pelican Point, the tour continues south into the dunes of the Namib-Naukluft National Park. The drive becomes more adventurous as the route heads toward Sandwich Harbour. This is one of the few places where high desert dunes reach directly into the Atlantic Ocean. Depending on the tide, the drive follows the beach or crosses the dunes.
