Solitaire Desert Farm – Tranquil Lodge Near Sossusvlei, Namibia

Solitaire Desert Farm

Solitaire Desert Farm – For nearly 60 years, this quiet community on the edge of Namib-Naukluft National Park has been a welcome desert stop. It feels more like a state of mind than a town.

With two well-known lodges and a campground, guests can walk, ride fat tire bikes, and take scenic drives across thousands of acres of Namib desert, grasslands, and rocky hills. Kuiseb Canyon, the Spreetshoogte Pass, and Namibia’s Sossusvlei Dunes are all part of the Namib-Naukluft area.

There is a beautiful desert garden surrounded by 25 spacious rooms. Each room has two double beds, a wheelchair-accessible bathroom with a shower, and an outdoor seating area. All rooms have air conditioning. Two family rooms, each with two extra twin beds, can sleep up to six people.

Guests can enjoy sunset views from the outdoor bar and eat breakfast and dinner at Café van der Lee. After dark, this small old village becomes a quiet place under the stars. Sit back and relax.

There are activities for guests who like to stay busy, and the hotel pool has shaded thatch lapas for relaxing.

To learn about the area’s history, visit the well-known Solitaire Kerk Immanuel Church.

Our quiet Mountain Lodge is located at the base of the Rand Mountains, about 7 km from the village of Solitaire. It offers a peaceful nature experience and can host up to 35 people. It has 10 large, air-conditioned rooms with private outdoor seating and bathrooms.

Our open-air thatch café is surrounded by desert gardens with many local Namibian plants and birds. Each evening, enjoy freshly cooked meals and a few South African wines while watching the night sky from the outdoor patio.

Swimming, hiking, and scenic drives are always available, whether you like to be active or just relax.

For guests arriving by plane, our Solitaire airstrip offers a free shuttle service.
